Instagram launched Stories in August 2016 and has become hugely popular with more than 250 million daily users in just over a year. It’s not a secret that we here at Climb Online HQ also love Instagram Stories. But let’s face it, who doesn’t! This month, the social network continued to add new features to the popular function to maximise the impact of Stories – so, without further ado, meet the new Stories Highlights and Archive!
This is a new way of using your Stories as visible part of your profile. Stories Highlights can now be added to a new section of your profile just below the bio and once created, will remain there until you choose to delete them. You can add up to 100 images or videos to each Highlight and there are no limits on how many you can have on your profile.

The main benefit of Highlights is that you can continue to post multiple times a day without spamming your followers feed, just like with Stories, but you’re also able to keep your content visible for more than 24 hours, unlike with Stories. Basically, it’s a combination of a normal post and Stories but has also provided a new, creative way of engaging with your followers.
Stories Archive will now also save all your Stories automatically, so you will no longer lose your favourite moments after 24 hours. Even though this is a slightly less exciting feature than Highlights, Archive enables you to keep your favourite moments, and turn them into Highlights. Your mobile storage will no longer be filled with your old stories as Archives will store them in the cloud.
