Instagram launches In-App Shopping!

 

What is it?

An in-app shopping experience with Instagram had been extensively tested in the USA and has now been rolled out to a number of countries including the UK, Australia and Canada. But what does this mean to brands? Well, it makes it makes it simple for users to see your products, their price and then be driven straight to the storefront, allowing users to purchase directly from in the Instagram app.

Users can now tap on the tags to view the pop up containing the product name and the pricing of the item, then follow the link directly to purchase from the store, increasing the intent to purchase, saving time and sales.

Jim Squired, Instagram’s Head of Business has said the trial was a great success and that the tags have become very popular – “People come to Instagram every day to discover and buy products from their favorite businesses. We want to be that seamless experience. Whether it’s a local artisan, florist or clothing store, shopping directly on Instagram has never been easier.”

But what does this mean for brands?

Essentially this is a great opportunity to get more visibility on your products, more traffic to your website and ultimately MORE SALES!
